How to Book a Tattoo at 808 Studios in Halifax, NS
Getting a tattoo is a big decision, but booking one doesn't have to be complicated.
At 808 Studios, a tattoo studio in downtown Halifax, we've made the booking process easier with two options: submit a tattoo booking request or request a free tattoo quote.

Whether you already know which artist you want or you're still figuring out the best artist for your idea, here's exactly how to get started.
Step 1: Explore the 808 Studios Artists
Before booking, take a look through our artists and their portfolios.
Every artist at 808 Studios has their own specialties and artistic style. Our studio is home to artists working across styles including realism, black and grey realism, colour realism, fine line, floral, illustrative work, blackwork, and more.
Choosing an artist whose portfolio matches the style you're looking for is one of the most important parts of the tattoo process.
If you're not sure who would be the best fit, that's completely fine. You can submit your idea and choose No Preference on our booking form. Our studio manager can help match your tattoo with an artist whose style is suited to the project.
Step 2: Choose Between Booking and Getting a Free Quote
There are now two easy ways to start your tattoo journey at 808 Studios.
If you know what you want and you're ready to discuss appointment availability, head to our booking page. The booking form lets you provide important information about your tattoo, including your idea, placement, preferred artist, and other details that help our team understand your project.
You can request a specific artist or select No Preference if you'd like us to recommend the best fit.
Once you submit the form, our studio manager Andrea will review your request and get back to you with the next steps.
Still Wondering How Much Your Tattoo Will Cost? Get a Free Quote
If you're interested in getting a tattoo but aren't ready to book yet, our new Free Tattoo Quote option is a great place to start. Simply fill out the free quote form with information about your tattoo idea, and our studio manager will get back to you.
A quote can be especially helpful if you're planning a larger or more detailed tattoo and want a better understanding of the project before choosing your appointment.
What's the Difference Between a Booking Request and a Free Quote?
The two options are designed for slightly different stages of the process.
Use the booking form if:
You already have a tattoo idea
You have an artist in mind
You're ready to discuss appointment dates
You want to move forward with your tattoo
Use the free quote form if:
You're still planning your tattoo
You want an estimate before booking
You're unsure about the size, placement, or overall scope
You want to understand the project before committing to an appointment
If you're somewhere in between, don't overthink it. Send us your idea and we'll help point you in the right direction.
What Information Should You Include When Booking a Tattoo?
The more information you can provide, the easier it is for the studio and artist to understand what you're looking for.
When submitting your tattoo request, it's helpful to include:
Your Tattoo Idea
Tell us what you want to get tattooed. You don't need to have every detail figured out.
You can describe the subject, concept, meaning, or general direction you're thinking about.
Placement
Let us know where you want the tattoo. For example, you might be considering your forearm, upper arm, thigh, back, chest, calf, or another area. Placement can affect the size, composition, and overall approach to a tattoo, so it's useful information for your artist.
Approximate Size
If you have an approximate size in mind, include it.
If you're unsure, that's okay. Your artist can help determine an appropriate size based on the design and placement.
Reference Images
Reference images can be extremely helpful.
You can send examples of tattoos, artwork, photographs, objects, styles, or other visual references that communicate what you're looking for. References don't have to be exact copies of what you want. They're simply a way to show your artist the direction, mood, style, or details you like.
Preferred Artist
If you've found an 808 artist whose work you love, you can request them directly.
If you don't know which artist would be best, choose No Preference and let our team help match your project with the right artist.
How Much Does a Tattoo Cost in Halifax?
There isn't one universal price for a tattoo.
Tattoo pricing can depend on factors including:
Size
Placement
Level of detail
Style
Colour or black and grey
Design complexity
Estimated time required
The artist creating the tattoo
A small, simple tattoo and a large-scale realism project are going to require very different amounts of time and preparation. That's why we recommend submitting your idea rather than trying to estimate the price based on another tattoo you found online.
Do I Need a Consultation?
It depends on the artist and the project.
Some 808 artists offer consultations, while others can gather everything they need through the booking process and communicate with you before your appointment.
For larger tattoos, realism projects, sleeves, and other detailed work, there may be more planning involved before your tattoo session. The important thing is that you'll have the opportunity to discuss your project with your artist before tattooing begins.
What Happens After I Submit My Request?
Once your form is submitted, our studio manager reviews the information and gets back to you with the next steps. From there, we'll work with you to determine the appropriate artist, availability, and appointment details.
For all appointments we require a deposit, the deposit secures your appointment and is applied toward the final cost of your tattoo. Deposit and cancellation policies can vary, so be sure to review the information provided when booking.
